Mattie was a fourteen year old girl who lived in Philadelphia and was very spunky and lived upstairs of her family's coffee shop, she was very stressed because her mom was widowed and they had just lost one of their good friends Polly. (2) Mattie’s mom is very strict and she lost her father when she was a child after he fell off of a ladder and broke his neck, she also lost one of her good friends Polly to yellow fever and she was very sad that she couldn’t pay her condolences to Polly’s friend. (3) I felt sad because I was not able to say goodbye to one of my good friends, but on the other hand Nathaniel is looking really good but dash it all I’m not allowed to date, Lastly I just wish that I could tell Polly’s family how much Polly and meant to me also I’m so disappointed in my mom that she didn’t let me go to the Logan household but I understand she is just protecting me. (5) Mattie is a girl that is going from a very snobby and disrespectful teenager to realizing that she had to do more responsibilities and since Polly had died she knew that she had to take the responsibilities of Polly, on top of her own responsibilities so she realized that it was time that she stepped (6) I can relate Mattie to Elle from The Kissing Booth because she is independent and strong while going against what other people say and do what makes her happy, like for example when Lee told Elle that she couldn’t date Noah she did not want to listen to him because that’s what makes him happen but to not disappoint anyone they kept their relationship a secret, But Mattie has a crush on Nathaniel and He made her happy and she was able to show her true colors but when she is around adults and other people she is being the person that she is expected to be.

I feel that someone with the fever would have infected the people at the funeral, and at the Logan household the air is still infected so mother didn't want for Mattie to be infected.

(Mattie's Point of View) Today, a hot summer day, there has been much talk about a sickness down by the river. Mother has done everything in her power to keep me at the coffee house, and away from the river, but I yearn to go there and prove the stories false, and put my mother at ease. It is now nearing night time, and I am lying in bed while mother finishes the last of Polly’s chores.(1) I have been thinking much about what I would write today to get my mind off things, but I just cannot seem to comprehend the fact that Polly is dead, or let it slip my mind even for the slightest moment. (2) I regret being annoyed by her when she was flirting with Matthew and going to be late for work, and I regret not being able to say my proper farewells, which only adds to my grieving. But, I have been trying my hardest to help mother with Polly’s chores, as I can see she is trying to be strong for all of us, including Polly’s family. (3) I can’t help thinking about earlier, that nosy doctor mentioning something about yellow fever. What if that’s what caused Polly’s death. If so, was she in pain? Could I have, or anyone for that matter, helped her? How? How did she contract such a fever? Will I get it to? I have so many things on my mind. (4) I’ve tried to speak my mind on this crisis to mother and grandfather, but mother refuses to let me venture anywhere outside of the coffee shop, and the market. And although grandfather sides with me, even he couldn’t force mother to let me out of her sight. So, instead of whining and complaining about the circumstances, I have forced myself to discontinue putting off growing up. (5) And again, I continue thinking about Polly. I remember once reading about a deadly disease in a newspaper left at the coffee house. Something along the lines of smallpox. I think it said it was highly contagious, and came from a waterway, but that was all I was able to read before mother tore the paper out of my hands and reprimanded me to get to bed. Maybe that is how Polly died. Or, maybe it was a simple sickness. (6)

In question 2 that is a great point. We regret much in our lives and sometimes we can´t make up our regrets. I think it is important for us to be nice to everyone because we never know one day they could be gone and we never get to say sorry or say goodbye.

It was August 16th 1793 in Philadelphia, a teenager named Mattie lived with her mother and her friend Eliza above their coffee shop. Mattie woke up every morning to work with her mother and Eliza at their coffee shop. There was also a serving girl named Polly that was also Mattie’s friend. Mother was always very well mannered and strict to Mattie while Matie was very independent and wanted to do things her way. (1) Mattie experienced multiple conflicts throughout the beginning. The conflicts that occurred were when Mattie’s friend Polly died from a fever and also when Polly died Mattie wanted to go to Polly’s funeral but her mother said she didn't want Mattie to go. These both started two conflicts character vs self which is when Polly dies and Mattie is very upset because even though Polly was their servant she was still Mattie’s friend. Another conflict was character vs character which is when Mattie's mother tells her that she can’t go to Polly's funeral. (2) Mattie was very surprised when Polly had died. She was also very devastated by this very tragic event, because she had known Polly since she was very young. Mattie was very frustrated with her mother when she had told her no. Mattie's mother is very overprotective because she did not let Mattie go to Polly funeral. Mattie's mother didn't want Mattie to have nightmares and to be anywhere near the fever. (3) There were many rumors about a fever throughout Philadelphia. That may explain all the deaths that have happened all very recently. Mattie’s Grandfather believes that Polly may have died from the tragic fever going around Philadelphia. (4) Mattie is developing as a character throughout the beginning because she is learning what it was like to be Polly since Polly had died. Mattie has had to wake up everyday and still do her jobs that her mother gives her as well as polly's jobs. Mattie is learning how to help out her mother by going to the marketplace to get things that her mother needs. Mattie had went out to the marketplace to help out her mother which was her developing as a person and how she acts. (5) This fever connects to all different types of sicknesses all around the world today. For an example in an article it talked about how different sickness are cured but, then other sickness come along that have a cure close to the other sickness. All sickness have different cures some are easier that others while others are not. (6)

    3. Polly dying is a character vs self conflict for Mattie because she had to go through that hard time of her friend Polly dying by herself. Since her mother didn't want to talk about Polly and how she had died.

    5. The chapters may of changed if Mattie had went to Polly's funeral. For an example, if Mattie were to go without her mother permission, her mother and her may have gotten into an argument. If her mother let her go then maybe her mother would go to protect her and make sure she did not get anywhere near fever.

  5. In 1793, in July yellow fever strikes the town of philadelphia. In this town there is a teenage girl named Mattie in a coffee shop that she and her family owns. (1) Mattie’s sister Polly just died. Some people think that the cause of her death was a new illness known as the yellow fever.(2) Either way, Mattie is devastated that she died. She feels confused and sad.(3) She doesn't like talking about the yellow fever with people because that is all that her mother talks about.(4) Mattie is developing as a character by becoming more serious. It is seen at the beginning of the novel that she jokingly complains about getting out of bed, but now she is more serious because of Polly’s death and the possibility of a new epidemic.(5) I can connect the move birdbox to this book because in both of them, the main character’s sister dies in the beginning, and something terrible strikes the public causing deaths. (Mattie’s point of view) - I woke up, I worked, I went to bed, everyday the same thing, what I see what I do everything the same I’d be lucky if I got to see Nathaniel once or twice a day even though mother doesn’t approve of him (1). Not too long ago I saved mother’s favorite quilt from getting blood all over it but for that I just got to work more (2). Also I heard of this fever going around by the bay and there are a lot of people who are dying from it (4). I think that's what may have taken Polly’s life, mother didn’t let me go to her funeral not even to go bring some food to her family (3). After she died I had to do all the jobs she did so I had to become more efficient and responsible (5). My mom is extremely strict she and it’s always work, work, work, and no fun just like Miss. Trunchbull from the book Matilda (6).

    (1) It's July 1793 yellow fever shows up in the city of Philadelphia Pennsylvania. (2) Matties sister Polly died from a new unknown illness. (3) Mattie is sad and depressed and doesn't know what to do. (4) Many other people are dying in the city of Philadelphia and no one knows where it's coming from. (5) Mattie is developing as a character because her mom tells her shes not aloud to go to the market she insists she does.(6) My mom alway wants me to work and do chores for her when I really don't want to just like Mattie and her mom.

(1)Chapters 1-5 took place in the city of Philadelphia in 1793. Matilda(Mattie) lives with her mom and grandfather in a house above/combining with their business, Cook Coffeehouse. They also have a resident cat, Silas. They have a garden which we find Mattie in when she receives the news about Polly. It’s a very hot summer. (2) Mattie is facing a few problems. She is trying to get along with her mother, as well as the fact that her mother said no to going to Polly’s funeral. This leads into another problem she faces, which is taking over at the coffeehouse for Polly. She tries her best to deal with these things. She starts working more around the house to balance out the work with Eliza and her mom, but still has tentious moments with her mom. She doesn’t get to go to the funeral. (3)In chapters 1-5, Mattie feels restrained and nervous. Her mother is making her stay home instead of going to Polly’s funeral, and stay to help with work. She is also very nervous when she hears her grandfather and other men talking about the yellow fever spreading, and the same applies when she hears the bell ring in town. Knowing that sickness could affect the ones she loves make her scared. (4)In this section we see Yellow Fever a few times. The most prominent occurrence is when we hear about Polly’s illness and death. We learn that she died before not showing up to Mattie’s house the next day. When Mattie is out running errands for her mom, she hears the bell ringing. They realize a 21 year old had died of the fever, and so far she hates it. It’s killing people, so obviously she is not going to embrace the fever. (5)As a character, we learn that Mattie has a crush on Nathaniel Benson. Having a crush matures/changes you as a person, and Mattie has to deal with this. She is also taking on more and more responsibility with Polly gone. This will, again, teach Mattie more responsibility in general. (6)One real world example that I can connect the events of the book to is the show “Flash”. Before they get married. Barry (Flash/Protagonist) has a huge crush on Iris. They grew up together after his mom died and his father went to jail. He often finds himself stumbling on his words and wondering what Iris would think, just like Mattie and Nathaniel at the end of this section.

    2. Izzy R

I think Mattie will 100% become more mature throughout the story. I also think she will become more self-reliant from having to worry and possibly being seperated from all of her family. Authors tend to put situations like that in books, where a character has to learn to navigate/survive without help. That's why I think she'll grow and change (mature).

Mattie is a 15 year old girl who lives in Philadelphia in a coffee shop that her mother owns. The coffee house sat just off the corner of Seventh and High Streets. (1) Mattie lost her father at a young age due to him falling off a ladder and breaking his neck. He unfortunately didn’t make it to the coffee houses opening. During chapters 1-5 we find out that not only Matties friend but fellow employee Polly died of some sickness. (2) This is truly heartbreaking for Mattie due to the fact of how close she was with Polly however her mother doesn’t want her go to Polly's funeral because she doesn’t want to lose Mattie too. (3) People are getting suspicious lately due to the fact of many people dying. There has been rumors going around that these people have been dying of a fever going around in philadelphia. Many people are scared and don’t know what's going on. (4) Mattie is developing as a character because we are learning more about her personality and how she handles situations throughout the story. (5) One real world event I can connect to these chapters are people dying from diseases like Ebola. Ebola was a really tragic disease that many people died from just like yellow fever. (6)

    (Mother's POV)

(1.) Another day of work crammed into this tiny coffee house. It seems like the walls are closing in, and the ceiling is pressing against our heads. It smells bitterly of cigar smoke in this tiny building. This is the place that I call home. (4.) Polly hasn’t showed up in weeks, and I am starting to worry. That obsession with Matthew really has gotten over her. I decided to go over to her parent’s house to see what was going on. When I opened the door, I was shocked. There was Polly’s Dead body on the ground, by the crackling fireplace. It seemed that she was knitting, since there was a long piece of string weaving its way onto the floor. Were the yellow fever rumors true? I had to get home, and tell Matilda. (3.) She was devastated when I told her about Polly’s death. I mean, they have been friends since they were little children. Imagine if you had lost your best friend. Matilda asked me if she could go and pay her respects to her, but I said no. I mean, would you let your child go into a deathly outbreak during this time of the year? The obvious answer is no. (5.) But after a few days of begging and bribery, I finally let Matilda go out and buy stuff for the family. It seems that she is maturing everyday a little bit more. Plus, I was feeling very sick and I could barely get out of bed. (2.) When I sent Mattie shopping, I somewhat knew that she would run into her childhood crush, Nathaniel Benson. She told me that he stole her basket, and she asked for it back. The bell rang many times that day. I also made her take over Polly’s spot as a worker because she died. (6.) This somewhat reminds me of a book I read, which was called “Tuck Everlasting”. It is about a teenage girl who tries to escape the grasp of her demanding mother. She seems to mature throughout the book just like matilda.

    2. Thank you for the compliment! I do believe that if Mother was less protective of Mattie, she would be in more danger. Say that mother let Mattie go to Polly's funeral, she may have caught on the disease too, and maybe even died from it. Many actions that Mother does to protect Mattie really helps keep her safe from the dangers from that time.

(1): “The year is 1793 on a hot and dry August day. I live in Philadelphia on High Street, working in a coffee house and live right above it. Every morning I can always hear Matthew slamming the hammer on the anvil, the smell of coffee, and Mother yelling at me to get up.” (2): “The day had gotten off to a bad start with Mother angry at me about me sleeping in and not getting up early. As the day goes on I find out that my best friend had. Died. Mother and I argued as to whether I should pay a visit to Polly’s parents. As always my Mother had won and sent me up to my room. About another week later we’d gotten into another argument but this time Grandfather had helped me out. This time I was able to get of the coffee house and go down and do some shopping at the market..”
(3): “I and Mother get into arguments quite often. I have tried making new solutions during these arguments but it doesn't always tend to work out in the end. Let me recall...I remember the argument between me and Mother about when Polly died. I say that I want to go see her parents, Mother revolts, then I suggest I should go to the funeral but she ends the argument with a no and sends me up to my room. Another time is when Grandfather suggested that I should go to the market and he said why, but Mother would say no so I pitched in a couple of things to side Mother over and Grandfather helped. Surprisingly this time, Mother had let me go to the market after being in the house 8 days after Polly’s death.” (4): “I’ve heard of a thing called Yellow Fever and I believe some say it’s due to the mosquitos because of this drought we’ve been having lately. Speaking of Yellow Fever I think that those 64 people that have died may have been Yellow Fever, but when I was at the coffee house arguing with Mother whether I should go out to the market she was acting a little more defensive this time and she also brought up Polly. Did she die to the so called “Yellow Fever”. One may truly never know.” (5): “I myself think that I am indeed maturing. I do things typically grown-ups would do normally. Since Polly had died I’m taking on more responsibilities, one is that I just got to go to the market and shop in place of Mother. I am doing more things in the coffee house. For example taking over what Polly would have done in the coffee house. (6): I can connect Ebola to Yellow Fever. One reason is that they both can affect people’s organs. The victim can possibly die to this disease. They both had started during the summer months. People believe that Yellow Fever had started in Africa just like Ebola.

  16. I am Lucille (mother). Currently I’m living with a moody 14 year old and a wise elder. Ever since my… it happened things have been hard. Mattie (the moody 14 year old) has changed immensely. She has been going to the store, cleaning the house, and even helping out at the garden. I still don’t trust her with the customers, she is still so unpredictable. (1.)
I think Mattie sorrows over… our problems by doing work or it’s helping her forget about it. I am very appreciative about her ways of calming down it very helpful. Nonetheless, no matter how much she works she has enough time to disrespect me. She worries me, no matter what she never wakes up at the right time. (2.)
There has been rumors about a sickness coming around. I hope that's not how Polly…
died. Mattie keeps insisting about that it’s all a hoax but, it’s never certain. (4.)
Mattie still is Maturing. My little baby was just yesterday a little flower not yet bloomed.
She is now a beautiful flower dancing in the wind, I wish she was old enough to
    acknowledge her mother's love. (5.)
She is dealing with her problems in a very mature way. She is doing more work to
drown out her sorrows. I am very proud of her. She is doing what I would be doing if
that would happen to me. She may not always be like me but, when she does I am very
    proud of her. (3.)
Mattie keeps complaining to me that she likes Nathaniel because I won’t let her talk to
him because he has no future. At night I here her “crush” on Nathaniel like some kind of
future reality show. You know what I still don’t know what that is. What even is a show? (6.)

In the book Yellow Fever, Mattie lives in Philadelphia and the time period is August 16th, 1793 to August 24th, 1793. She lives with her Mom and her Grandfather in a house combined/above a coffee shop. It is a very hot summer day and their is a sickness in the air, killing many. (1)In these chapters, Mattie is faced with my conflits. Some include Mattie and her mom not getting along. Her mom fought with her about getting out of her bed and helping her with the work that needs to be done around the house and coffee shop. Another conflict that Mattie faces in these chapters is when Polly, MattieÅ› house helper dies. Polly which was also Mattie´s friend dies, Mattie is very very upset. She wants to go to her funeral and pay her respects to the family. Her mother does not let in because of the sickness going around. (2)During these ConlfictÅ› Mattie expresses many feelings and thoughts. When her Mother and Mattie are not getting along and Mother is yelling at her to get out of bed and help around the house. While her Mother is yelling she feels annoyed. She thought that her Mother is strict and that she all she does is work, work work. In the other conflict her friend and helper around the house and coffee shop passes away. This makes Mattie feel upset and she thought that since here mother would not let her go, that she was a rude person. (3) Many people in Philadelphia have passed away. This could be due to a fever. The fever is going around fast and many people are getting the sickness. Right now people in Philadelphia don´t think there is a fever, they just think people are passing away due to natural causes. (4) Mattie is developing as a character because, we are finding out more about her. For example, we know she has a crush his name is Nathaniel Benson. This boy cause her to have butterflies and feel all warm inside. Mattie is starting to become more mature as the characters go on. An example of her maturing is when Polly passed away it took a lot of mature to get over that hard situation and to not give up. (5) In the chapters 1 - 5 a real world event that relates to something I read is in the book Mattie and Mother arguing all the time and just don't have a good strong relationship. This relates to the book ¨Wonder¨ with Auggie's sister Via and their Mother. They argue all through the book and movie. (6)

It was 1765, it was a hot torrid night in Philadelphia, Mattie wakes up to the sound of a mosquito whining in her ear, mother opens the door and the heat poors in the room above there coffee house. (1) The minute matilda heard the devastating news of polly was dead, she began to shiver, she just couldn’t believe it. Her waitress polly was dead, and they had no Idea what had happened to her, mattie wanted badly to attend polly’s fever but her mother would not let her. Even though polly was Mattie’s servant they still had a very close friendship and this news that polly had died must have been very very devastating for Mattie. Mattie was very frustrated with her mother after she told her she couldn’t go to her dear friends funeral. (⅔) Throughout the beginning chapters of the book, there were many cases of yellow fever and the epidemic started to take place. Every single time someone had died the bells would ring in remembrance of them. Mattie’s grandfather suspects polly could have died from yellow fever. (4) Throughout the beginning chapters Mattie is developing as a character more and more she has to take on more responsibilities and chores now that polly is dead and the book takes a more serious tone. (5) I guess I could possibly connect these chapters to the movie Cinderella, in the movie cinderella has to do many chores and her mother is very strict along with that her father died. In the book her servant Polly dies and her mother is very strict and makes her do lots of chores. (6)

    Dear Diary,
Today is a very hot day. There has been lots of talk about a fever going around town. My Mother has done everything she can to keep her business up straight at the Coffee house. I live in Philadelphia. That’s where my Mother and I live. It is almost night and my Mother is finishing Polly’s chores. (2) I have been thinking about all the things that has been going on lately and I wanted to write about it to get it off my mind. Polly was my maid but they were also very close (almost like friends). My Mother is not allowing me to go to her funeral just because she is protecting me. (3) I feel sad because my Mother isn’t allowing me to go to Polly’s funeral and I would like to go to that and be there to support the family. With all the things happening around town, my Mother has been very stressed. I would never have thought Polly would have died like this with nobody knowing about it. (4) I feel trapped inside doing things I don’t want not being a normal person. My Mother is keeping me inside and not allowing me to venture the world. Even my grandfather isn’t forcing her to let me out and explore. She won’t budge. The disease going around has killed a few people who had it. It must have been really bad. I am hoping my family and I don’t get it. (5) I am going to instead of whining and complaining, I forced myself to stop and move on. I am never going to forgoes about Polly but I will grow up and I will stop being a younger me. I am still going to think about this fever. What if it gets to me? How will I get rid of it? These are all things I will think about when the time comes. (6) I always think about how Polly died. It might have been the flu like I had a few years ago. Or it could have been chicken pox. I also have had that. People can die from a fever? People say it was from a fever but I don’t know. Maybe it was just a simple sickness that killed Polly.

Another day of hot August day. I woke up today to my mother yelling at me to get up out of bed and get downstairs and help her get ready to open up the coffee shop. (1)

    2./3 August 16th, 1793

The most horrible event has happened. Today Polly didn’t show up to help with the coffee house. So because of this Eliza went looking for her, we thought maybe she might be watching Mathew work. Then when Eliza came back she gave us the horrible news. Polly had passed last night. It hurt me and made me feel so terribly weak. Mother seemed that she didn’t care thought. She wouldn’t even let me go to the funeral! I miss Polly. (2)

    August 24th, 1793

While I was out doing errands for mother today at the market, I ran into Nathaniel Benson. Everything was rather normal he stole some fruit started talking to me, then all of a sudden the church bells started to ring. They ran twenty-one times. Nathaniel said that meant another person had died of this mysterious diseases. Some people have said that there was a fever from the docks that was snacking thru the town. (5)

    5.
Mattie is maturing in many ways thru these chapter an example of this is how at the beginning of chapter one Mattie was being immature and sleeping in which is a rather childish act. Then later when Polly had passed during the night when Mattie had found out she was shocked but she was not affected in a very strong childish way she expected that it was Polly’s time.

    6.
A real-world connection to something we read in these chapters would be how Mattie had lost someone who she had grown up with and then just lost. An example of a real-world example of this would be in “A Series Of Unfortunate Events” when the Baudelaire loose the quagmires because they knew them a lot and had experienced many thing the same as the Bodalairs and since they were family very cared about each other very much, and when they lost them it hurt them very badly.

August is always so hot in Philadelphia. I think it is the hottest month here. The year is 1765 my mother wakes me up way too early in the morning to go to work. She is so strict she has me working in her coffee shop and do so many chores, I know she wants the best for me though. I also live with my grandfather, he takes good care of my mother and I. (1) Recently, my friend Polly passed, she also worked for my mother. Therefore, I have to do her chores as well. (2) It was really hard to hear that she is gone, it still is. Whenever someone mentions her I try my best to hold back the tears. (3) There is talk about a fever going around, yellow fever. I think, that is why Polly passed. She was a perfectly healthy girl. My mother tries to deny it as much as possible, because she doesn't want to see me sticking my nose into it all. Throughout the last couple of weeks there have been tremendous amounts of people dying, I think from the yellow fever. It won't be long until everyone is talking about leaving the town. (4) Although, I feel that I have become more responsible after I had to take over Polly’s chores too. My mother even let me go shopping for coffee beans at the market, although it did take some convincing. Down at the market I met Nathaniel Benson, a long friend. My mother doesn't want me around him. She doesn't believe he is a good influence, and thinks I have a little bit of a crush on him, I mean I kind of do.(5) In pretty little liars, Aria, Emily, Spencer, and Hannah’s friend Allison goes missing. They have to get over the fact that she isn’t coming home. All of them grieve in their own way, just like Mattie after she found out Polly was gone. They also experience some complications as well, like yellow fever in the novel.(6)

    (1) Mattie lives in Philadelphia in the year 1793. It is a hot August and there are bugs everywhere. Mattie lives and works at her mom’s coffee shop. She wakes up every morning to her mom yelling at her. (4) Mattie’s old friend, Polly passed away of what seemed to be Yellow Fever. She just suddenly dropped to the floor dead. When she was in the street, there were mosquitoes everywhere. When she saw Nathaniel Benson, while they were talking they were interrupted by the church bells, symboling another death. (2) When Matilda was working in the garden she was already upset about the heat, but when she heard about Polly, not only did she have to do more work, but she lost one of her best friends. Later, she wanted to pay her respects, but it ended in a dispute between her and Lucile, her mother.(5) Since Polly passed, Matilda had to take on more responsibilities in the coffee. While she was out running errands she bumped into Nathaniel Benson. She kept dreaming about how she could go fishing with him, but eventually brings herself back down to earth. She then realizes that she can’t keep thinking about him and needs to get the food for her mother.(3) Mattie was angry at her mother when she wouldn’t let her go to Polly’s funeral. She repeatedly asked her until they were in a fight. She was also very upset when she heard of Polly’s passing. She remembers the fun times that they had together.(6) In Big Hero 6 The main character Hiro loses his brother. He becomes very depressed and angry, it results in him staying in his room and getting into fights with his family. Also, in Avengers Infinity War, Star Lord loses Gamora, he gets really angry and tries to go at Thanos as hard as he can, but in doing so fails.

(1)Its Philadelphia August 1793, it's always so hot here in August. My mother, my grandfather and I sleep above our family coffee shop. (2)We have been working very hard since my good friend polly logan passed and I took over her chores. (3)Its has been hard without polly and there is a sickness going around, a fever, I think that's what polly had. She was perfectly healthy and because of Yellow fever my mother wont let me out of the shop. (4)I don't see why it is such an issue, my mother is very over protective and she wont let me go to Polly’s funeral. (5)I think i am being very responsible and really matured, especially after polly passed away. I have been helping mother around the shop and doing lots of chores.
(6)Some parts of Fever 1793 are similar to the darkest minds because in fever 1793 many people have a sickness called Yellow fever. In the darkest minds all of the kids have a sickness and most of them are evil, the doctors were instructed to kill all of the ones that could possibly be a threat. They are similar because most of them have a deadly disease and they have live on without the ones who passed.

  24. Nathaniel Benson. He is so cute! Today my mother was going to go to the market for some groceries but I really wanted to go so I begged her until she let me. It is a hot August day. I live in Philadelphia and the year is 1793. (1) I was just finishing up and someone grabbed my basket. I turn around and guess who it is, Nathaniel! (2) ¨My stomach flipped over like an egg in a skillet.¨ I was so nervous! (3) Mother was worried about me going out because of polly. She thought since I was grieving I shouldn't go but, I think it was how she died is what worried her. (4) I told mother that I was old enough and mature enough to go alone and she believed me. I knew that there was a big possibility that I would see Nathaniel but I would do what mother told me to do and go straight back to the coffee house. (5) In a book I read called ¨To all the boys i've loved before¨, the same thing happened to her! She wrote letters to her childhood crushes and then tried to avoid them at all costs because she got embarrassed. That is what happened to me. I tried to avoid him but he just seems to always be where I am at the same time. (6) Aly E.

It is hotter than ever here in philadelphia. Each day just keeps getting hotter, and hotter, but we keep pushing through. The date is August 16, 1793 I live above my mother's coffee house with her and my grandfather.(1) One of my closest and longest friends Polly Logan has just passed away for an unknown reason. She was a perfectly healthy child and had no symptoms of anything.(2) Even though people say they don’t know what happened I believe that she is another victim of an illness going around. Since she's been gone I have had to take over her chores and her role in the coffee house.(3) This illness is yellow fever, and because of it I am not allowed to leave the house alone. It has already taken so many lives and does not seem like it’s stopping.(4) My mother says that I need to step up and be more mature, but I think i’m already mature. Since I have stepped up and done Polly’s chores I have been taking on a lot more responsibility than I had before.(5)
In the book Fever 1793 Polly Logan dies from yellow fever when it first comes to Philadelphia. In the movie Cinderella, made in 2015, Belle's mother dies of an unknown illness. This relates to Polly’s death because at the time of her death no one new what illness she died from. In Cinderella her mother dies of an illness that the doctors cannot figure out. (6)

I must admit i'm a bit sad for the las but the coffee house is starting stink of rotten coffee beans talk of yellow fever is getting a bit more wide spread.the las seems to be getting to be a better worker and she deserves some candy.a real world comparison would be the show gravity falls where the kids kind of have to work at the adults workplace. (Mattie’s point of view) I can get so tired of my mother sometimes. 1) She owns a coffee shop and i’m forced to work there. I live in Philadelphia Pennsylvania and the summers are very hot. 2) So far this summer many people in this town have died from what some people will call a fever. One of my old friends and mothers maid for the coffee shop, Polly died. I was terribly sad about that. Our chef, Eliza, acts like more of a mother than my mother does sometimes. 3) I’ve felt sad about my old friend Polly. I’ve also felt stressed because since she’s been gone, i’ve got all of her chores in the coffee shop from mother! 4) Many people have died from this so called fever. Mother has been very protective of me lately, not letting me run my regular errands and things like that. 5) I’m becoming more independent as I grow. I’m currently fourteen and i’m starting to stick up for myself more. 6) A real-world event that I can connect is cinderella because she had lost her father and her step-mother had pushed her around and made her do lots of chores and I lost my father as a young child and my mother makes me run lots of errands and do lots of chores as well. -Audrey K.

(1)I am surrounded by Philadelphia’s city air and groaning people who need their morning coffee. I live above a coffee shop that my mother owns. I also live by a doc that they use to bring resources in and out. The year is 1793 and we have just heard about a fever breakout. Also my childhood friend, Polly, died sadly today and my mother is not letting me go to her funeral. Also I live by a market that has anything you could ask for like eggs (fresh), white corn, fresh fish, blackberries and raspberries and of course Nathaniel Benson.
(2)Some folks are saying there is a sickness going around called yellow fever. I believe it is just another summertime fever that we get every year here in Philadelphia but others are saying it is worse than any other fever we have had. Polly our waitress, has recently passed due to some sort of sickness. No one really knows what happened only that she had fever and died 45 minutes later.
(3)When I first heard about Polly passing, I was really shocked. She had been my friend ever since I was a kin. It was just so sudden and shocking that I couldn’t believe that it was really happening. I had an idea to bring Polly’s family dinner that night but mother wouldn’t let me go. I wasn’t even aloud to go to the funeral. Some of Grandfathers friends came to the coffee shop to eat and they were discussing yellow fever, this new disease. Some said it was the result of bad coffee beans and others said it was from the refugees. I’m not sure on what I think about this yellow fever but all I know is that I don’t want it near me and my family.
(4)Yellow fever has affected many things in my town. For example it has the bells going crazy because everytime someone dies it rings. Also people have been fleeing from Philadelphia to the country area to get away from this sickness that is causing deadly results.
(5)At the beginning of this week, I woke up late and felt lazy but this week has really changed me. I have been doing all of my jobs as well as Polly’s so it has been pretty rough to handle.
(6)These chapters remind me of a few different disney movies like Up, and The Princess and the Frog, because after someone they care about dies they keep on carrying out their work. In Up Carl still is determined to go to paradise falls even though his wife dies and in fever 1793 Polly dies and matilda still carries on her work.
